Ignoring

The Ignore function on here is an excellent facility.

Problem is you can still view content when someone quotes a person on your Ignore List.

Is there any way round this?

Not that I am aware of

I think this is quite a common problem on forums. It is on one I use which has much more up to date software.

One possible solution ....

You can just actually ignore something you have seen.

A bit non-technical, but irt works if you persevere.

A similar thought occurred to me as well Poshie.

Except it can be even simpler: If there is a member who’s posts are causing somebody difficulty in their head then that somebody can just, you know, not read the posts. No need to read then ignore*, simply don’t read them to start with. Same with quoted posts, don’t read the quote. It’s not as if anyone has the ability to stealth post and get one beneath the radar. Each post is clearly identified at the beginning as belonging to a forum member and the same is true with quoted posts. The information is all there to self-censor viewing if that is the ostrich view somebody wants to take.

Wanting posts to be made invisible by technology suggests a weak ability to trust ones own conviction and indicates a poor resolve in the face of temptation.

This is an open forum and in my view all opinions and posts are welcome so long as they are polite and intelligible, as well as being non-judgemental and non-hectoring. We all post here because we want to and nobody is forced into it. It’s not like any of us are ashamed to be a member of a club which we are unable to leave. This isn’t the mafia, it’s just an online discussion forum amongst folk who supposedly share a passion for kinky sex of various flavours. Professional or otherwise.

Not my criteria, but an opinion which keeps open posting safe from chaos. I’ll respect any post which is polite and reasoned.

If you read posts from your pretend ignore list before somebody quotes them then maybe best try and also pretend to have ignored it, that might work if you are consistent with it !

You can’t be half-assed when pretending.
