UKM ethos
There have been a number of excellent contributions, on various threads, to the overall objectives of this Board. If I say that they are becoming repetitive then this is not a criticism of these posts, but rather a wish that they were consolidated, preserved, and not lost in the day-to-day noise (as new people are joining all the time).
The UKM ethos is fine, as far as it goes, but it should be supplemented by an explanation, for those who obviously need it, why professional dominants (who post in their own name, unlike almost all of us) are worthy of respect, whilst of course being open to legitimate criticism (I won't repeat the arguments that have been made more effectively than I could ever do). I don't want to propose more work, but given the time and emotional energy already put into these posts it may not be such an imposition to collect them together and create a PD-focused interpretation as to what this Board is trying to achieve. Our female moderator may perhaps be the best person to do this (though of couse I don't know). This should then become a sticky on the major sections of this board (at present the ethos is rather hidden away, and you have to search for it). Despite the arguments of the last week the recent posts, including today's, still don't suggest to me that this is a female-friendly Board. No criticism of the moderators is intended, as I've read their contributions and I can see they are trying to keep order without being censorious. I know it's difficult, but there are lots of other misogynist boards to chose from (no doubt offering a variety of reasonably priced lagers to suit all wallets). Of course the moderators won't be able to immediately respond to this, but I hope they will consider it as they carry out their current review. |

I think its a really good idea.
At the risk of irritating the anti-PDUK brigade, we had an ethos section that was sticky, obvious and really easy to point new members to so that they could see what sort of stuff was okay to discuss and what wasn't, what could go into sig areas and what couldn't, the usual sort of forum guidelines. I think it helped.

My minor point was that it could be more visible; my major point is that we could add something more personal and less abstract. I had in mind something like the following: "But sessioning (at least the way I do it) is not just about offering a selection of services or performing various activities or even about supplying an end product. It's about giving the whole of me. IMO it's so so different and personal than anything I've ever experienced." Somehow I thought we needed to preserve something like this. Anyone who reads it, and thinks about what it means, will never make a certain kind of post again. |

I very much like the post linked to by reefy - it feels inclusive, positive, and welcoming. Respect & kindness are really important, especially when we're talking about & getting involved in intimate, emotional encounters. What I find quite curious is the way some members of UKM spend so much time attacking it (or what they perceive it to be). Because as soon as they make that kind of post, UKM - or any other forum - changes: it expands to absorb that criticism, because they're also part of it. It swallows the attack almost effortlessly. A bit like shooting a water pistol into a river. Last edited by subtle; 02-11-2012 at 18:31. |

Self regulation often fails as proven in almost every other situation be it political, financial, media etc etc.
The following guideline from the link seems to have been missed:- "Please do NOT put Mistresses telephone numbers in posts, nor details of tribute." It is the blatant disregard of the latter part of this perfectly sensible rule which recently produced such unedifying and indefensible posts. The MIS is looking like something between Punternet and Trip Adviser, and is wholly divorced from the Professional world I experience in person. It is the responsibility of us all to at least maintain the minimum standards as written, or be outlawed for not. Kind Regards, Rimmer.
