UKM - Hygiene in the dungeon - UK

I don't play very often now but I had a long session recently at a location with 2 playrooms. Now I always seem to remember the canes. etc were always scrupulously clean when I used to play regularly or is my mind playing tricks with me?
I may be mistaken but I don't think I saw much evidence of cleaning after the session as the Mistress left at the same time as I did and I only took a short while to freshen up and get dressed. In fact I am sure the dragon cane went straight back into the pot of canes even though I had been cut.
What concerned me more was a discussion with the second mistress who came into my session to admire the artwork on my bottom and both of them asked why I dislike the paddle (which I do, I really don't like hard paddles preferring the cane and tawse). The paddle did look a strange orange colour and one mistress laughed it was so bloodstained it will never be clean again.
Am I being paranoid over cleanliness or should I consider going back again?
What are others thoughts, I would especially like to hear from any Mistresses if this is OK.

I only cane a couple to levels where i have made them bleed and once they have the canes become theirs. They were rattan unvarnished canes used.

I have asked other Mistresses about this and they have said if the cane has been treated and varnished then it can be cleaned.

Myself, i just prefer to be over careful with all my hygiene, it has stood me in good stead over the years.

I don't think you're being paranoid at all. I used to wipes down my canes with antiseptic wipes after use and if blood was drawn, which was rare, if ever, I was into stripes rather than mince meat, the cane was soaked in bleach.

I'm not overly impressed with the level of hygiene you describe. It doesn't take much to wipe treated canes with antiseptic or soak them if required.

If this level of basic hygiene is not being adhered to then what else is being ignored!

If any implement is marked with blod or other bodily fluids, it should be cleaned throughly by the Mistress before it is used again. If the Mistress does not do this, then I would give her a miss.
I have visited many Mistresses and I can confirm that their premises and any implements used or likely to be used were spotless.

My experience is limited but during post session chat I have always seen the Mistress either put the canes to one side (and mention they will be treated later) or seen them clean them down with medical wipes in front of me.

I don't like having leather floggers used on me or paddles because i am wary of hygiene.

Thank you for all your comments, I am pleased to know that hygiene is of paramount importance as I am sure I saw canes cleaned after use when I used to session regularly. It bothers me that I didn't notice it this time so I am sceptical about returning although the premises did generally seem very good. I thought maybe I missed something and would have given her the benefit of the doubt but it was the state of the wooden paddle that set the alarm bells ringing.

I absolutely agree....You can't see if the varnish on a cane has cracked or has become porous.

After a particularly bloody session with a cane, surrounding equipment should also be cleaned very well....blood splatter travels quite some distance!

I just can't quite picture our mistresses with a bottle of detergent spray in one hand and a jay cloth in the other. Humming softly to themselves as they wipe away the blood from the walls.

Ha ha ive done it often, though don't forget the ceilings and lights, pesky blood really does travel
