My comments will be irrelevant as well as I can’t see myself attending any UKM munch in the foreseeable future but, having been to a few in the past at a number of different venues in different cities, I also prefer pubs. Fairs are aimed at enabling stallholders to shift their goods, obviously, and groups of people drinking and chatting just get in the way of the main business – particularly true of the layout at the LFF. Whereas pubs’ main business is to shift booze, equally obviously.
I’m also unsure as to the criteria for success that seems to me to be implicit in quite a few of the posts in this thread i.e. maximising attendance. I suspect a lot of people have a difficult enough time creating discreet time away from partners/families/other commitments for sessions, let alone disappearing to a pub for a few hours – maybe in another part of the country – on a weekend. I rather think that you’re more likely to get much the same core group of ‘regulars’ and one or two more occasional visitors at these type of events – and nothing wrong with that to my mind. As an aside, I had a couple of pints in the Knights Templar a few weeks ago. Loos are still spectacular but they don't quite run to Molton Brown toiletries yet - it is a Wetherspoons after all |

See the thread has split in 2 but that Poshy's pub seems to be getting good press!
The BBB seems a goer for the future too. Suppose the big issue is getting enough support for certain date? Maybe a date poll that allows for a second choice to be entered?

I know this may seem a bit chaotic I have merged the two threads, JJ5's "Members interaction" and Purple Phoenix's "The next UKM get together" into one here in Scene Events
I have added a poll you can select more than one option. For the next London meet I will start a new thread in a few weeks to seek views on venue and dates, likewise I will start a Brum one in few weeks. Last edited by reefknot; 11-09-2012 at 17:10. |

Good stuff munch arranger and thread merger reefy
Personally, I'd be wary of too many options on dates and venues. I've tended to find that less choice is better otherwise it can get chaotic Lisal (bit of a dictator on the quiet!!) |

I would attend a meet at the BBB, for convenience of course.

Elseware in the souf of England (to the west of London) would be ok for me. Trevel in general is going to be a nightmare ,esecially in London, as are pubs with upstairs/downstairs rooms and WCs.
Could I make it anyware? far to early to say yet really, but I would always try |

wondering about a revival?
I knew the Munch was a grand tradition, just wondering if it is due for a revival?

CM, yes it is worth consideration, lets see what responses we get to this old thread if it looks like it will fly I'll start a new thread with a poll to get the consensus on date and location
