Default Senna

Just noticed that Kapadia's documentary film 'Senna' is on ITV tonight.

Definately worth a watch!

RIP Sean Edwards killed training in Australia.

His father was one of the drivers who pulled Lauda out of his near fatal crash

Default 1 May 1994

The legend lives on…

Twenty years on, those dazzling, gladiatorial performances still set the standard…

The top 5 drivers are pretty much the same in all polls… Senna, Schumacher, Fangio, Prost and Clark. Those ranked 2 to 5 often flip-flop but Senna is always ranked number one.
It looks like Lewis Hamilton is going to join this list. Superb driver who is immersed in the Senna ethos. He really knows how to impose himself hard.

Three times world champion in Austin, Texas in a couple of weeks?...

Yep, you have to hand it to the kid. Bravery in spades. Who else would drench Putin like that

Default Who dares wins...

Congratulations, Lewis Hamilton, three times World Champion!

He imposed himself very hard at the first corner in typical Senna fashion, revealing how much he wanted to win.

Clearly, the best driver of our current generation...

Hardly a "clearly" case. He obviously has the best car. Rosberg is the only one you can compare him against, and that is only a marginal case as to who of the two might be best.

Imho the best 3 today are Vettel, Alonso and Hamilton. Wouldn't like to put money on who actually is the best. Not that it will ever be proved.

Default Strategies...

Good to see that Lewis Hamilton was back to his unbeatable best in the Monaco Grand Prix. Wets to ultra softs in a single tyre change was a brilliant strategy.

Talking of Lewis, Nicole Scherzinger looked absolutely amazing during her Unicef appeal, filmed in Kenya and shown on Sunday night during the Soccer Aid charity match. Denim jeans, T shirt and a tear in her eye. She looked genuine. One day he might add Bob Dylan’s Threw It All Away to his playlist...

Sunday night ? Shouldn't you have been watching the 'Not At All New' Top Gear on BBC2 just like the rest of us weren't.

No wonder the ratings dropped by a third. Fact.

I watched neither Monaco, nor TG, nor Nicole. Fact. Opting instead to pot up me Petunias in the Summer evening sun. Very nice they look too*. Fact.

Kind Regards,
Rimmer.

* Loud and proud splashes of colour contrasting with the 'Black Satin' variety I bought. My gods, they really are Black. An utterly deep absorbing Black flower that has a velvety textured surface which prevents any light from being reflected back. A floral Black Hole, the missing dark matter. Pitch black they are, black...black...black...oh no it's happening again ! Black, black, black !! Like the ink'd ravens of despair that peck and claw at my very soul. Fact. Black, black, BLACK !! Aaaaaghhhhhh !

Fact.

Aaaaaghhhhhhhhh !!!!...

...but with a nice splash of colour as well. Fact.

You don't need to worry too much about the viewing stats. We have a paradigm shift regarding viewing nowadays. The consolidated stats for the first episode was actually 8 million when you included the iPlayer views.

The second episode was actually much better in terms of content than the first with Jenson Button, Damian Lewis and Tinie Tempah as guests. But like most folk I watched Soccer Aid on ITV and played catch up with Top Gear on iPlayer. The weather was great too, so a nice country pub would also have been an option. It’s good to have choices.

The South African trip was brill with stunning scenery and proper SUV terrain. Unlike the old Top Gear the three presenters each teamed up with a renowned musician and that proved to be a breath of fresh air. The pairings were interesting and a nice segue from the monotonous hackneyed road trips of the old format.

My recommendation would be to overcome the prejudice and give it a whirl…
