Current affairs.

Not those extra curricular ones, but topical ones on the state of our country.

The UK 5 year yield on government bonds is now higher than in Italy and Greece.

That’s an interesting measure, especially as the above mentioned countries are not known for their political stability...

The Truss - Kwarteng et al book, ‘Britannia Unchained’ is getting an update. A new title has been suggested as ‘Britain All Trussed Up With No Place To Go’

Some key quotes from the original :

“Once they enter the workplace, the British are among the worst idlers in the world. We work among the lowest hours, we retire early and our productivity is poor. Whereas Indian children aspire to be doctors or businessmen, the British are more interested in foot ball and pop music.”

“We should stop indulging in irrelevant debates about sharing the pie between manufacturing and services, the north and the south, women and men. Instead, we should focus on trying to make it easier for firms to recruit people and ensuring the tax burden is less onerous.”

When you are challenged by the above, just say nothing and wear that space cadet having a brain fart look. That shouldn't be hard to do. From what we have seen so far, TK Min avoid scrutiny, far more than Johnson ever did.

With the way they are behaving now, they must surely hate our country…

The UK government's tax-cut plans have been described as a "blunder" by American billionaire investor Ray Dalio.

 Dalio is the founder and co-chief investment officer of Bridgewater Associates, the largest hedge fund in the world.

 Writing on Twitter, he said: "The panic selling you are now seeing that is leading to the plunge of UK bonds, currency, and financial assets is due to the recognition that the big supply of debt that will have to be sold by the government is much too much for the demand.

 "That makes people want to get out of the debt and currency. I can't understand how those who were behind this move didn't understand that. It suggests incompetence.

 "Mechanistically, the UK government is operating like the government of an emerging country - it is producing too much debt in a currency that there is not a big world demand for."  

The IMF which is the world lender of last resort also says :

"Given elevated inflation pressures in many countries, including the UK, we do not recommend large and un-targeted fiscal packages at this juncture, as it is important that fiscal policy does not work at cross purposes to monetary policy

"The nature of the UK measures will likely increase inequality.”

You wouldn’t want these things to happen willingly, so incompetence must be the answer. 

Now in deep do-do. BoE now stepping in with an emergency bond buying program...

And unlike the Clown, the Joker isn't very good at tricking the shall we say "low information voters" into thinking she's doing a good job

Maybe Tory members/a few gullible DM readers believe in her but that's about it. They literally believe whatever they're told. And even some of them must be having doubts. Yes she's that abysmal.
