Default Poppers

Can anyone tell me where in central London I can buy real (or at least decent) poppers? I only go to the UK twice a year and so need to stock up! Also, are there any web sites you could refer to me for online purchases? PM's are more than welcome.

Many thanks, peace to all!xxx

You can only buy crappy iso-propyl nitrite (whatever the brand name) in the UK. It's illegal for shops to sell anything else.

Try powerpoppers.com for alkyl and iso-butyl (Rush).

I believe iso-propyl nitrite to be one of the most dangerous substances you can play with. It knocks me about something rotten, takes an age to recover, causes breathing difficulties and if you should spill on your skin, will turn it orange, almost like a chemical burn. As Lady Anna says, using power poppers mail order is a far better option.

Haven't had bits turning orange, well not bits I could see, otherwise agree 100%.

I have reached a decision not to use the UK over the counter stuff mainly due to the inevitable hacking cough and induced tiredness.

What's the deal with purchasing mail order poppers from abroad, vis-a-vis customs and the law, etc?

I've never had a problem. It isn't illegal to buy, possess or use any type of poppers in this country.

It's only illegal to supply anything other than iso-propyl nitrite and even then they are sold as room odourisers and not as inhalants. It's illegal to sell nitrites as inhalants.

Default what about using a mask?

isopropyl is really bad, I agree. Blisters skin, but if you inhale using a mask, does it do any damage?

Any damage to what? The body? The mask?

It doesn't matter how you inhale propyl, whether direct from the bottle or via breathing apparatus, it still passes over your mucus membranes (your nostrils) causing burning. How badly you are burned depends on how much you use and how sensitive you are.

If it does that to your nostrils what does it do inside you!? I hate to think.

Something else to consider is that all poppers discolour plastic and rubber over time. I have lots of oxygen tubing that has gradually turned yellow and I use quality nitrites which don't burn at all (I am always spilling it on myself). When I clean out my rubber hoses and rebreather bags the water comes out stained yellow. It can also cause rubber and latex to perish. Many rubberists won't use poppers with their favourite most expensive breathing hoods for this very reason.

Iso-propyl nitrite often has hydrochloric acid in it to preserve it. It isn't intended or sold as an inhalant (it is sold as a room odorisor to get around the Medicines Act) so it isn't tested to ensure it is safe for inhalation or direct skin contact.
