Woops ! it seems I am being far too generous ! I have just tried to click on briunz's thread post on "visitors messages" & have been told off by the message appearing on My screen !
Apparantly I have used up all My reputation awards given to fellow members/posters here:lolsign:
Try it and see for yourself.

You are most welcome briunz. It seems I have used up My quota for 24 hrs!
I tried this the other night and got a message saying something like "Thank you for your vote. If you are lucky the recipient may add to your reputation in return". That was the gist of it, if not the exact wording. Anyway, there is no indication that it has made one bit of difference to the member concerned ot that he/she knows they have been credited.
Also, I have sent one PM to a member here but my Sent Box shows nothing. Has anyone else experienced similar?

I've found the same. I've added reputation by approving a comment and nothing has changed.
Peter - the old UKM kept the PM in Sent as a default setting. On new UKM you have to ask it to keep a sent. By default it doesn't keep a sent.

An infraction button eh ? Better get ready to use it then reefy:tumbleweed:
Sorry to bring this up again but I've now added a reputation point to 3 members here and nothing has changed. I had a confirmatory message in each case. When I tried it again in one instance, I received a message asking me to spread reputation around. This tells me that my request has been received. I'm not sure whether I am not enabled to give reputation points or whether they are not instantly awarded. Does anyone know how the system works?
I was one of the original testers of this site and that is how I got to 19 on my reputation icon. It was 20 but one of the other testers took one off me because he didn't want me to have the same as him.

I was so struck by this sad story that I just tried to give you one, so to speak. Nothing seems to have changed though!

Right, mystery of vanishing reputation thingys solved.
Go into your user CP, you should have something headed "latest reputation recieved" if you have anything there click on it, that way your reputation increases. Bob

Close... no cigar :old_thumbs-up:
Ok... I've left you experimenting long enough... here's some pointers on
the reputation system settings :)
Default Reputation (every user starts with)
10
Administrator's Reputation Power
10
Register Date Factor
For every 100 days, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.
Post Count Factor
For every 100 posts, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.
Reputation Point Factor
For every 10 points of reputation, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.
Minimum Post Count
A user have made 25 posts before his/her reputation hits count on others?
Minimum Reputation Count
A users reputations must be at least rep of 10 before his/her reputation hits count on others?
Daily Reputation Clicks Limit
How many reputation clicks can a user give over each 24 hour period? (Administrators are exempt from this limit.)
10
Reputation User Spread
How many different users must you give reputation to before you can hit the same person again? (Administrators are exempt from this limit.)
10
Some of these settings will be tweaked as we go along. They were just
what seemed 'reasonable' as we started out.
Hopefully that will help everyones experimentations! :roflol:

Awww so all the lovely reputation points I have received don't count? :( I'm guessing the members who gave them haven't enough posts under their belt.
I still got the nice messages though - thank you everyone :) but GET POSTING!!! :shooting:

The Infraction Button is used by those who don't have a sense of humour. Anything that is found by them to not be funny, even if many others disagree, will give you an Infraction. Very unfair in my opinion. If your face don't fit, and all that!

les sub - You infraction was given for a needlessly antagonistic comment
NOT a joke. So I don't see how you make the connection to a sense of
humor. I was tempted to protect you from yourself and edit this post
too. I think rather than that I will let the rest of the membership see
your comment. I'm sure they can make up their own minds. Could you
stop being antagonistic now please?
bgx - None of your posts have come close to being a problem. Are
you expecting them to or are you just 'playing'. I'd rather not have
to add you to my 'at risk' list. :roflol:
So....
Anyone figured out rep points yet?

Glad to hear it. I thought you were most likely mucking about.
I haven't seen anything 'directly' from you that's needed
moderation. You keep posting things that make me think
that you think you are moments away from having to be tho.
I think you worry too much! :lolsign:

During the beta testing the reputation points was felt to add a little fun to UKM, they are not unusal on message board.
One potential use over time the points will indicate to new members the existing members that are respected for their posts and attitude in UKM land by UKMers, lets live with the reputation points for a while and see where they take us.

You know.....if you don't like them....then don't participate. That is your right to choose to do so. We'll look into zero'ing your tally and keeping it that way once we've done the other things to the site that we would like to do. It's not top priority as I am sure you will understand. Mean time, you'll simply have to live with it, oh and please don't forget to bitch and moan about having yet another free resource to bitch and moan about!
Use it, don't use it, the choice really is yours, but at this present time, it's staying, like it or not.
