View Full Version : Xmas Munch! December 5th... my place!

It was great fun to catch up with everyone at the Bash and I couldn't help wonder why we don't get together more often. Also, for a number of reasons I know a few folks had to miss it which was a shame...

So, I'm up for a munch now! Date set in stone, December 5th - it's a SATURDAY - so if you travel by train you should have an easier time of it. Cancel that boring shopping trip for Xmas, it can wait another day! I promised a munch earlier in the year and never got it together. Now there's not much of the year left so I thought I had better pull my finger out.

Get yourself by rail, sea, air, cab, cart or rollerblade to The Black Horse in Borough Green near Sevenoaks instead for a proper UKM knees-up!

Doors open at 12 and I'll do a 'buffy' too... :old_thumbs-up:

As the 5th is the nearest Saturday to my birthday, It would be an ideal opportunity to allow everybody to buy me a drink...:)

Hello Lauren,

What a great idea but I cannot commit Myself 100% to saying I can come as I really don't know how My foot is going to be etc at that time.

If I did pop down it would have to be a last minute yes or no depending on My damned foot !

I will of course let you know as soon as I can.

It in my diary so there's a good chance I'll be there

If its where google thinks it is then there is a station less than 1/2 mile away brisk walk to the munch and a stagger home :roflol:

Wonderful idea, Lauren, and thanks for organising.

I hope to be there.

Bags we have a 'whip round' to pay for the 'buffy'

As Lisal said, let's have some directions for the more navigationally challenged amongst us :)

Hartlepool away that day. Much easier and more enjoyable to go to Borough Green. Great idea Lauren. See you all there.

Travel from London Victoria to Borough Green/Wrotham
Trains leave Victoria at 18 and 48 minutes past the hour.
Return trains leave Borough Green at 17 and 49 minutes past the hour
Journey takes approximately 45 minutes

Local map is already in this thread.

Looking forward to seeing you all . . . . .

Hiya Lauren,

Unfortunately I wont be able to make the munch as I have just been told that I am being pampered & spoilt etc for My 1st wedding anniversary which is the day after (sunday 6th Dec).

I hope you all have a super time !

This is a bloody marvellous idea Lauren - I've held off posting until now because I wasn't sure whether I could make it or not. Unfortunately, I can't make this one.... a real bummer.

I hope you all have a fantastic time. :)

Oh, that's a shame...

Just dropped in to say that the munch is well and truly on, I had a couple of calls asking for confirmation.

See you on Saturday!!

Dear Lauren, I've pm you but I'm not sure I know how to use the pm facility on this new site right :blondblush:

Unfortunately, the munch clashes with an event I booked weeks ago, so I won't be attending. I would have loved to, specially after having missed the charity bash too. I hope you all have a wonderful time and that the boys behave! :nono1:

Just echoing reefie.

It was a very pleasant afternoon enjoying the combined delights of good company and good Harvey's best bitter.

Thanks to mine hostess jL for having us, and to her hard-working galley slave B (the chicken drumsticks were dynamite mate :))

Ooh - good day indeed

A chance to meet some new folks - from UKM, PDUK and IC and to chinwag with them all. A very nice boozer with some lovely staff (especially the fire lighting lady) and some excellent food. That chicken was pretty hot!!!!!

I slept an awful lot on the train(s) home - fortunately I am at the end of the line

:) :)

Sorry (as I said elsewhere) that some people who indicated they would turn up didn't. jL (and her kitchen bunny) went to town for us

Great afternoon. The chicken was indeed hot stuff. The Harveys was seriously toothsome, and all the hard work put in by everybody was much appreciated.

The garden looks a perfect spot for a summer event...

Hey, thanks to everyone who managed to make it, I'm sorry I didn't find more time to sit down and chill out with you all!

I would like to mention that the chicken - in it's original state - was actually perfectly tame... until B found this fire powder in the pantry and then there was no stopping him!

Hope you feel better soon Pheonix...

I would also like to say a special THANK YOU to B and Co who not only pitched in on the day but have also been a much appreciated support in recent times, I really want you to know it has meant the difference between despair and hope in troubled times. There is no better encouragement to keep going then having someone take hold of your hand and be there for you. :friends:

If all goes well then by summer things should be brilliant and maybe a BBQ in the garden would be a fun thing to do (I'll get more staff so I can just swan about like lady muck), Thanks to Stripthewillows kind offer, everyone will be able to marvel at my killy-willy too! :)

Thank you, Lauren, for your hospitality. I am sorry I had to leave so early (and before that chicken!) and that I had to arrive so early. Another time I’ll plan it better.

Good to chat to the regulars and to meet, albeit briefly, the IC contingent. It’s a weird feeling, being recognised and not having a clue who it is who knows you!

A wonderful day hosted by a super person - Thank you jL:spoton:

I enjoyed meeting people who up till now had just been 'names'. They were all great and we were all very well behaved :old_biggrin:
Many thanks as well to jL's helpers - a merry bunch for sure:roflol:

The 'Killie Willie' is going to a very happy place.:)
