[Sidles onstage, peering around at the changed décor.]
UKM seems to have taken a leaf or two from IC's book in the matter of layout - and to good purpose, as far as I can see. The text is now more agreeable to the eye.
Has anyone missed me? (No, please ignore that question.) I've mostly avoided UKM since I blundered - that's the only way I can put it - into an unseemly public bust-up here with a Mistress whom I had previously found a most delightful and rewarding friend. Looking back, I can hardly blame her for reacting as she did, and I still have a great regard for her. My only quarrel with her now is that what she called my "bloody stupid(ity)" has been recognised by others, after plaguing me for much of my life, as a form of autism. Her academic background in psychology and neuroscience might in theory have given her a better understanding of someone like me. On the other hand, perhaps I also have been bloody stupid.
Anyway, the loss of her friendship had the effect of destroying for me, at least temporarily, all the interest and attraction of "the scene". But I must record a debt of gratitude to the one or two fellow-subs who, without taking sides, sent me sympathetic PMs on that occasion.
I'm happy to let the matter rest now, and may still be back. :)
