Default Hay fever

Anyone suffer.

I've had everything from asthma to eczema, watering eyes and sneezing fits.
Over the years I suppose I've got accustomed to living around allergic responses.
I still have one reaction that bothers the shit out of me but on the whole I deal with "Hay Fever" as best I can.

Anyone got any old lady remedies, experiences etc.
It just seems a nice time to chat about this, what with the weather being so lovely these last few days.

I find the standard off-the-shelf tablets that contain 'loratadine' work very well indeed. For me they are very effective, non-drowsy, and last all day.

Presumably you have tried these and found them a bit useless ? Do you suffer from severe symptoms ?

Regards,
Rimmer.

Ive suffered for years and currently the only thing that works for me is prescription eye drops, nasal spray and Fexofenadine tablets. I still get some itch eyes and sniffles, but they are better than nothing.

The best thing I ever had which worked 100% was Steroid injetcions given by my GP. They last for about 8 to 10 weeks but my GP wouldnt give me the injiections for more than 2 years on the trot.

i'm not a sufferer but...

The problem with the OTC antihistamines is that they do not address the inflammatory response you get with Hay fever.

An effective prescription medicine is Nasofan. It’s a nasal spray which contains a synthetic corticosteroid (fluticasone) as active ingredient. Label usage is for seasonal hay fever and other nasal allergies such as those that might arise from pets and dust mites. Have a word with your GP if your symptoms are severe and you think you need to go the POM route…

I have heard that a spoonful of locally sourced honey each morning helps. I have never tried it as I am not a sufferer - but it is widely rumoured as a remedy.
