Online Saftey Bill
Nadine has pledged to bring in sweeping online saftey legislation in memory of the late MP David Amess.
About bloody time Citing the killing of former Labour MP Jo Cox, the racist abuse targeted at black England rubbishers during the Euros and the misogynistic hatred experienced by female celebrities, she said: “Online hate has poisoned public life. It’s often unbearable. And it has to end.” She said the online safety bill would force site owners to identify and remove illegal content quickly. “It will end abuse, full stop,” she said. “If it’s racist, if it’s misogynistic, if it’s antisemitic – if it’s any kind of toxic content that breaks a social media company’s terms and conditions, whether hiding behind a fake name or not, it will have to be removed.” This is terrbile news for the neckbeards. The antisemites, misogynists and transphobes who poison the internet with toxic comments. But it's bloody brilliant news for sites like UKM! All too often serial offenders just get their posts removed. Not even a ticking off. They never learn. Perhaps a fine and their names in the paper might make them think again? This post hasn't exactly aged well
Altho we DID end up with good news for UK-M. The one behind the extremism, the trolling, the abuse, the defence of violence did get banned. So now you've been banned, are you advocating YOUR name in the newspaper? (Rhetorical question BTW) |
